Publishing Perspectives: The Silence of the Grands 

I really regret the relative silence of leadership in the major publishing establishment. It’s bad enough that we all look to the Big Six-becoming-Five as “Old Publishing.” Even with the PRH merger coming in, two oldsters don’t make a new. But this is tradition, of course, and not to be dismissed lightly. A concept of what is dignified, proper, appropriate has been in place for a long time. It’s far easier for the Bermuda-shorted entrepreneurial class to yak its business all day and night than it is for those who were trained to the pinstripe and have corporate overlords who don’t want to hear their business passed around on the street.
