Ether for Authors: Is Amazon Really in Retreat?

[dropcap style=”flat” size=”5″]O[/dropcap]f course, it’s always popular to see setbacks where they’re denied. That’s especially true when the industry! the industry! has a chance to envision the positioning of Daphne Durham to succeed Larry Kirshbaum in heading up Amazon Publishing.

Durham is based in Seattle, not New York. So many think they’re seeing Amazon Publishing beating a hasty retreat, despite the company’s statements that it’s not only not retreating but about to announce expansions with new imprints.

What’s more, many seem to have missed the fact that Durham has functioned as Amazon Publishing’s Editor in Chief—could the idea of her handling more responsibility from Seattle really be so jarring to anyone except F Train riders?

As Michael Cader at Publishers Lunch tells us, Amazon Publishing is not an outfit that needs to turn tail and run after a couple of years’ slow starts.
